Rookwire Chess support

Email your iPhone model, iOS version, app version and what happened. A screenshot or the relevant PGN can help. Include only information needed to investigate.

Start a game

Use Arena to play the local computer. Choose a side and one of three search depths. Tap a piece, then a marked legal destination. The computer may take time to think. Hints and takebacks are available for practice.

Play with a friend

Choose Pass & play. Both players use the same iPhone. Automatic board rotation is optional. This app does not offer online multiplayer or remote invitations.

No sound or haptics?

Review the app’s sound and haptic settings. Turn off Silent Mode and raise device volume to hear the optional effects. Check system haptic settings. Reduce Motion changes the animation experience.

Use drills and review results

Open Drills to practice the original tactical exercises. Hint use, mistakes and solve time are recorded. Record shows recent practice, clean-solve counts and saved-game replay. Engine depth does not represent an Elo rating.

Share a game

Use the game’s sharing action to send PGN notation through the system share sheet. The destination you select receives the notation. PGN sharing is not a complete backup of preferences and drill history.

Saved progress and recovery

Moves save locally as you play. Starting a new game retains an unfinished game with moves as a practice record. If a storage error appears, keep the app installed and contact support. An unreadable save is preserved, and the app avoids silently replacing it with new progress. Free storage if saving fails; do not delete the app as a first troubleshooting step.

Remove app data

Deleting the app removes its local games, settings and drill history. Offloading can preserve its documents. Device backups and PGN files you previously shared remain subject to their own storage settings. There is no developer-hosted account to delete.
